Proverbs 31 Woman

Proverbs 31 has finally BLOWN ME AWAY! I’ve loved the “be a Proverbs 31 woman,” tagline, but felt disconnected. Yes, a good wife more precious than jewels & children who call me blessed! But seeking wool, considering a field, making coverings? I’ve hesitated with terms like “homemaker.”

A year ago, I wrote “Proverbs 31,” in my opening journal flap and ordered a book “biblical wisdom for the homemakers heart.” I finally read them, and didn’t realize the book was based on Proverbs 31! Kimberly Hahn broke down each verse to a modern meaning. Thrift shopping for our home, laying out our kid’s outfits, planning our family meals; a Proverbs 31 woman.

Not perfection, but upholding our presence. Whether it’s obsessively cleaning or happily baking. Scheduling childcare or creating school plans. All important, all holy.

Looking through vacation pictures, I had to laugh at this one. The boys actively dispersed around me. The symbolism. That’s you, the central role in your family’s life. Don’t ever doubt your unbelievable importance to those scattered around you.

What’s the lie you’re believing? Open your bible and call it out. Sorry, devil, no time for you; we have important business to attend to!

When we’re tired, confused, irritable, it’s ok. We will fail and fail again. “A saint is a sinner who keeps trying.” Motherhood, womanhood, marriage, it’s hard work. We’ll just call the best woman around, “Hail Mary, full of grace, punch the devil in the face!”

That’s a Proverbs 31 woman. Trusting not in her own strength, but the strength given to her from our gracious God. “I can’t, but God can.”

Trust that you are right where God wants you today. He’s perfectly placed you, and perfectly loves you. He knows the world desperately needs us. Our feminine genius. Our sisterly encouragement. Our Proverbs 31 yes.

~Who can find a good wife? She is far more precious than jewels.

~ The heart of her husband trust in her.

~ Strength and dignity are her clothing, and she laughs at the time to come.

~ Her children rise up and call her blessed.

~ Charm is deceitful, and beauty is vain, but a woman who fears the Lord is to be praised”

Your Proverbs 31 thoughts?

In Joy,
