Happy Friday & happy 3rd trimester over here, ah! SO glad you’re here & hope you find helpful encouragement & resources! Reflecting on my recent time since entering the ‘gram, here are helpful tips for choosing #JOYOVERJEALOUSY:
Remember your why online. Before the mindless scrolling, are you looking for inspiration on a certain topic, celebrating a personal milestone or success, connecting with like-minded women, sharing your own content? Your why keeps you focused.
Set your social rules. Boundaries help fight negative temptations. *see my previous Instagram rules post - taking off Sundays, logging on only to share etc.
Pray for the account of envy. Prayer is our best weapon against temptation. Turning “comparison into intercession!” @erinbfranco or @prayerwinechocolate prayers to say before using social media!
Reach out to the woman behind the account! Comment, DM, or shout out to what’s inspired you, which often is the exact thing leading to the jealous temptation. Satan has ways of twisting goodness. Acknowledge the “Instagram vs reality,” instead of judging what others choose to share.
Recognize her gifts do not discount your own! Her beautiful home, many children, gourmet meal, whatever – doesn’t mean the Father forgot about you! He’s just using you in different ways, likely to inspire each other 😘 1 Corithians 12
I’ve had my share of comparison and jealousy to women online, but when I’ve made these choices to celebrate them, compliment them, reach out, instead of sulk at myself, it’s led to unbelievable connection, community, inspiration & pure JOY!
Stories of real-life friendships, thriving businesses, life changing books, and evangelization happening here! In the words of my wise husband, “yes, good things can happen online, you did meet me on @catholicmatch 😘”
I’ll be praying the Lord blesses your time here & can’t wait to how you #choosingjoyonline! For mine, check out this awesome account @the.catholic.millennials!
What has brought you joy online? Share your story & let me know how I can shout out to you or anything that’s happened when you turned #jealousyintojoy!
We got this! 😍🙌🏻
In Joy,
Alex
