When we don't feel ready...
CONFESSION POST. One month away from my fourth babies due date & I don’t feel “ready.” Yes, I’ve labored three natural births, but confidence slips. Didn’t we just get used to three?
As I pulled out my birth books and affirmations last night, I thought of the labor to life analogy.
We plan and prepare, but do we ever really feel ready for God’s plans for us? At some point - is it not surrender?
“Expectation is the root of all heartache.” Shakespeare warned. That’s our wake-up call. What are the expectations of this labor, this new life, or the “plans we’ve made?” How can we change our human expectations to those of the Divine?
Whatever unexpected or unprepared journey we face; let’s keep the faith. Preparation, research, advice seeking; those are great, but I’ve found that “mindset of faith,” most helpful. We’re stronger than we think, and “can do all things through Christ who strengthens.” The fears, reluctance, doubts – that’s just the enemy distracting us.
It’s our choice to place childlike trust in the Lord. Understanding that Jesus trusts us, and He’s not waiting around to judge our wrong move.
Experienced mamas say whether it’s your first or eighth, you never feel “ready” for the crazy, beautiful train of motherhood…and that’s ok!
Tagging some expectant and post-partum mamas to relate ;) and sharing my favorite birth affirmations from The Natural Catholic Mom and beautiful new rosary from Rosary Bird on Instagram I’ll be packing!
