As a cradle Catholic, my #mamamarystory begins in my childhood kitchen where a beautiful statue of Our Lady stood on the corner table. My mom would rotate flowers around the statue, tell us to look at her smiling face, and remind us how we were “consecrated to Mary.”
I remember my grandmother’s strong Marian devotion, always gifting us small Mary medals. I treasured them like pure gold. Now I know they were only 25 cents from the St Jude shop!
I remember my parent’s reversion to the faith when my near-death baby brother was miraculously healed after a painting of Our Lady hung in his crib.
I remember working as an ICU nurse when the sight of my miraculous medal brought tears of comfort to patients and families.
I remember my surprise in witnessing my husband’s devotion to Mary, hearing that he brought her flowers in adoration!
I remember feeling disconnected from Mary in early motherhood. If she’s my example, there’s no chance, I’ll never be that meek & humble!
I remember studying the power of the rosary in women’s group, learning the necessary prayer “Mama Mary, be a mother to me now.” Understanding she’s not a far-fetched perfection, but the tender, relatable female guide we need. The mother my children can run to when I continue to fail!
I remember reading “The Miraculous Medal” with Donna Marie Cooper O’Boyle’s idea of always keeping medals in her purse to share. Instant order!
I faithfully wear my medal as a tangible reminder of Mary’s love for me. It reminds of the “daily fiat,” and helps calm my striving or competing mode to just be a daughter, exhausted or lost, wrapped in Mary’s mantle.

They say Mary can be “sneaky,” and the path to her not always straight 😘 but we know the world needs her now more than EVER 🙏Can’t wait to hear your Mary stories!
