How to Handle the Unexpected: Homeschooling or Not

My eager boys pictured four years ago in our amateur decorated living room, beginning the most unexpected journey of my life; becoming a homeschool mom. I wish to convince you of my continued shock. Think school-bred, career driven, extraverted people pleaser. Mixed with obsessively futuristic goal setting. Not the best “go with the new flow God has for you,” temperament.

Only a few YEARS of prideful teeth grinding, beside a saintly supportive husband, to admit how wonderful homeschooling is for my children, and how capable I actually am.

Isn’t that the theme for our unplanned adulthood journey’s? How much more do we enjoy our lives when we embrace what He calls us to? That’s the encouragement today.

Whatever unexpected journey you’re facing; keep the faith. You’re stronger than you think, and “can do all things through Christ who strengthens you.” The fears, reluctance, doubts – that’s just the enemy distracting you.

Preparation, research, advice-seeking; those are all great when it comes to handling our life shocks, but I’ve found that “mindset of faith,” most helpful. And in the struggle of amoral decision making, the “what should I do” usually boils to our own attitude. Our choice to place childlike trust in the Lord.

Whether your current choice is school related or not, don’t doubt your mama capability. His spirit is with you, guiding you, loving you. Jesus trusts you, and He’s not waiting around to judge your wrong move.

Homeschooling isn’t perfect. But what is? Other than God choosing YOU as the perfect mom for your kids 😊

When the Tuesday afternoon mom-decision-making-fatigue gets to you; close the phone, breath, and internally repeat;

“God choose me,
God will strengthen me.
I’m a beloved, imperfect,
daughter of the King of Kings.
His love for me is unconditional,
Despite the decisions I make.”

Then grab an uninterrupted moment the very next chance you get to look into the eyes of your children or loved ones.

I promise He’ll gift you a moment of grace.

Praying for ALL mama making decisions today! The new & experienced homeschooling ones, & ANY unexpected journey you’re facing this season, HE’S GOT US!!! 🙌🏻👊😊

In Joy,

Alex
