Choosing Small Things - Beginning Homeschool Tips
THE SMALL THINGS ARE EVERYTHING! Through our mama-making decisions, I’ve found the KEY to keeping motivation & peace is thinking SMALL. The slight added creamer, the single bible verse, the ONE small choice. As we enter this overwhelming week – let’s focus on our small wins!
We’re starting our school year over here, only 3 months until baby! Luckily, I married a professional artist to capture these pretty moments! Believe me, they are MOMENTS😘
Here’s 5 small choices that drastically change my homeschool day!
1. Chair – choosing MY seat! I spent years walking around the room, getting little kids set up, escaping upstairs, or standing at my kitchen island! Finally choosing a chair that’s where I’m expected to sit made all the difference.
2. Clothes – I learned the hard way if I’m still in my robe at 8am, the day’s doomed. Wearing clothes that give me confidence in my own home makes me a better mom and teacher. Pick one item clothing confidence. Follow @nmcaruso @meghanashleystyling @therealjessicarey
3. Toddlers – Those chaos causers. Learning small sanity saving keys of distraction, giving them attention first, strapping in highchair with cheerios or crayons, saving attentive read-alouds for their naps. Follow @yourmorningbasket
4. I-Phone – Choosing tech rules. HIDIING it from myself. Not letting those 30 seconds of a text or app response causing disarray. Putting it in my car or turning off in a closed drawer. It’s a balance of capturing the real time sweet moments vs. holding them in your heart. But we can choose those times! Follow @handsfreerevolution
5. High school – My futuristic brain focuses better when I choose to picture my boys in high school. They’ll only be little for so long, and that brings me back to the importance of my job at the moment.
You can do this!!! Whatever your “this” is. Think of small choices for your week, write them down, and count your small wins. Sometimes the small wins aren’t on our original checklist. Sometimes it takes time to learn. But we’re aiming for the heart. Heaven not Harvard! ❤️
