How to Friendsgiving
How can we 2020 FRIENDSGIVING?!?
C.S. Lewis said, “Friendship is born at the moment when one person says to another, ‘What you too? I thought I was the only one!’
If there’s anything I’ve learned from my years in Blessed is She community – it’s the truth of that CS Lewis’ ‘you too.’ Friendship is born from the hard stuff, the shared suffering, the vulnerability.
And we’ve all lived through 2020.
We know we need each other. We know the devil works in isolation.
How many times does a simple text, “How are you doing? I’m praying for you!” completely change the day?
Harvard studies show, “Good relationships protect your brain. The greatest predictor of happiness was shown to be the friendships and relationships with others.”
This #2020thanksgiving let’s,
Ditch friend lies:
- I’m alone in this hard year, this hard week
- She’s too busy for me, they forgot about me
- I’m too busy for them
Embrace friend truths:
- I’m made for community
- There’s room for me
- I’m able to reach out & my prayers are meaningful
Friendsgiving:
- Write a 2020 friendship gratitude list. Neighbors, sisters, cousins, co-workers, homeschool & school moms, Instagram friends.
- Call, text or DM a friend that’s shared a similar suffering or been there for you this past year!
- Offer a prayer, rosary or novena for a friendship in your life
I’ve been blessed with invaluable friendships. They’ve walked me through depressing and insecure times, new mom life, new marriage, new potty training, exhausted post-partum, faith life and family transitions. The effort, prayers & conversations have always been worth it. I’d be a complete mess without them!
It’s only Tuesday ;) make your list & let’s #2020friendsgiving & #choosejoyinfriendship in any way we can!!!
