Transition in Birth & Preparing for Advent

Grateful for those FIRST NEWBORN MOMENTS!!! Reflecting...

There’s a period of labor called “transition.” Your body’s stretched to its max, preparing for the push. It’s the worst. But it means you’re close.

Captured, our beautiful Christmas-like moment. Not captured, the grueling hour of transition prior. When I was ready to give up. When I wanted the pain gone. When I doubted everything.

Yet, in those moments of despair, my husband and nurse reminded me of the purpose. My burden would soon become my gift! That hope for my son carried me.

And, of course, the waiting was worth it! 🙌🏻👶💙

Isn't Advent similar? The time of transition and hope as we await the King of Kings. Entering into the darkness before Christ’s coming, like in the transition of labor, when all seems dark, and the anticipation of His light carries us.

God keeps His promises. He never leaves us in our darkness, just like He never left me during labor. It’s those moments of suffering, when the pain's too much, when we’re ready to quit, where our Lord meets us in transition, bringing a light better than we’ve imagined!

As we enter this season of waiting, let’s remember how through this past year’s transitions, our life’s darkest times, He never left us.

May my small newborn miracle be our hopeful reminder…there’s purpose and beauty in our waiting, He’s bringing His JOY to the world! 🙏

Re: Saint Catherine, “Out of DARKNESS, is born the LIGHT!”

In Joy,

Alex
