Sisterhood Tribute: National Sister Day
In honor of NATIONAL SISTERS DAY!
Sisterhood; hardly anything more important or anything more attacked. We know why the devil tempted Eve first, and why he hates Mama Mary. Our powerful femininity capable of compassion, unity, encouragement. He must seek to divide through jealously, competition, comparison.
A friend recently reminded me that the first person Mary visited during her pregnancy was Elizabeth. Another woman. She reminded the importance of our sisterhood through @blessedisshe__ . Tears fell as I thought of the women I could never live without.
My biological sisters. Every childhood memory. From shared bunkbeds, clubhouse adventures, sports team benches, stolen outfits; to maids of honor, godmothers, lifelong companions. “Having a sister is like having a best friend you can't get rid of. You know whatever you do, they'll still be there.” Our threefold cord is not easily broken.
My sister in laws. Showing unconditional acceptance into a new family. Creating new cousin bonds and teaching new traditions.
My sisters in Christ. The many women who’ve shown the honor of friendship, forgiveness and support through the years. I can’t tag or thank you all enough.
My virtual sisters who inspire through a screen, and my sisters the saints who inspire from Heaven. The same.
I’ve been sharing how impactful @lisacanning conference has been. This morning, I realize it’s the power of sisterhood. Witnessing women using their gifts to uplift, include, and inspire each other. That’s the POSSIBILITY of our true sisterhood identity.
Today, love on the sisters in your life. Text them, call them, post a picture of them. Reach out to a sister who’s on your heart.
Pray for the sisters who are hurting, waiting, isolated, or lonely. Pray they come to the truths of sisterhood and throw away the lies.
Pray for the mamas raising new sister bonds in this world, and the mama who raised you.
Pray for unity and restoration in all bonds of sisterhood, in all parts of the world, in all parts of our lives.
Let’s show the unconditional love, the unwavering support we sisters were created to give. To and through the bonds of sisterhood, Amen! ❤️🙌🏻
In Joy,
Alex
“A faithful friend is a sturdy shelter: he that has found one has found a treasure. There is nothing so precious as a faithful friend, and no scales can measure his excellence.” Sirach 6:14
“Iron sharpens iron, and one man sharpens another.” Proverbs 27
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow; but woe to him who is alone when he falls and has not another to lift him up. Again, if two lie together, they are warm; but how can one be warm alone? And though a man might prevail against one who is alone, two will withstand him. A threefold cord is not quickly broken.” Ecclesiastes 4
