John 15:11 “I have told you this so that my joy may be in you, and that your joy may be complete.”
Jesus desires us to choose a life full of the joy of His gospel! That’s what the #joymamamovement is all about. CHOOSING that joy.
The same for Advent! If cookie baking isn’t your thing, if you missed filling the St. Nick shoes, if the Jesse Tree gives you anxiety – then don’t do them!
The #beautyofadvent is like the beauty of motherhood, like the beauty of our faith. There’s more than enough ideas to go around, and YOU get to CHOOSE what fills your Advent with JOY!
Some of our favorite family traditions to consider:
- Saving our Christmas Tree trunks! Swipe to see! We started on our first Christmas 10 years ago and save an actual stump from every tree to display on our mantle!
- Personalized Stockings!
- Personalized ornaments – started with my mother in law who saved my husband’s ornaments for over 20 years! When we got married she handed us a box full of his childhood ornaments. We’ve gotten the Hallmark “first Christmas” and other milestones with pictures in them. Usually we hang on the tree, this year we displayed on our bookshelf.
- Christmas Carols – my favorite. We have a few books we pull out every year to sing together. I’ve missed my choir days badly!
